DipFA mock exams: what to sit when there are no past papers

If you search for DipFA mock exams you will mostly find classroom courses, a few short quiz banks, and pages that still talk as if real past papers exist. They do not. The London Institute of Banking & Finance (Walbrook Institute London) does not publish live DipFA exam papers. What you can sit are specimen-style materials and independent mocks written to the current format.
A useful DipFA mock is not a random quiz. It is a timed paper with the live mark allocation, the live pass mark, and an explanation when you get one wrong — so you know whether you missed a fact, a process, or a calculation.

Module 6 is financial planning coursework, not an MCQ exam. There is nothing honest to “mock” there except writing a fact-find to the current specification. This site does not sell Module 6.
FSRE is the same exam CeMAP candidates sit
DipFA Module 1 is FSRE, examined as FRE1 and FRE2. Those are the same unit codes CeMAP candidates sit. If you have already passed CeMAP 1, you do not sit FSRE again. If you have not, the FRE1/FRE2 papers are the right mocks — not a separate “DipFA only” regulation paper with a different clock.
How many mocks to sit
- Sit the first paper in a unit cold, timed if you can bear it, and treat the score as a map of weak topics.
- Read every explanation — including questions you guessed correctly.
- Sit at least one harder paper in that unit before you book. 70% on the easiest paper is not the same as 70% on the hardest.
- AFA papers are 45 minutes. Untimed practice teaches a pace the exam will not give you.
What these papers cost against the real fees
Walbrook exam fees for the diploma sit around £1,400, with a resit in the region of £110 a unit. Classroom courses run to hundreds per module. A one-off mock library at £29.99 (or £9.99 for a single module) is meant to sit under that, not replace a taught course. FRE1 Paper 1 is free in full so you can judge the style before you pay.
